Through the first two games, this series has been a tight, competitive battle, with the Timberwolves accomplishing their main mission of stealing a win in Los Angeles. As the scene shifts to Minneapolis, the tone of the series feels like it’s set to change. The Lakers should benefit from the added rest day they earned between games, giving their veteran core—especially LeBron James—some much-needed time to recover and recharge.
Los Angeles showed a strong defensive blueprint in Game 2, effectively slowing down Minnesota’s offensive rhythm. Given LeBron’s postseason pedigree and the adjustments the Lakers made defensively, it’s hard to bet against them keeping this one close. It appears the Lakers have found a strategy: focus defensive energy on limiting Minnesota’s supporting cast while letting guys like Julius Randle and Anthony Edwards carry the bulk of the scoring burden. If that continues, the Timberwolves could find themselves struggling to find reliable secondary production.
While playing at home will definitely boost Minnesota’s chances, I’m not completely convinced they’ll pull away comfortably.
