Iowa State is struggling at the worst possible time, and heading into Allen Fieldhouse to face a motivated Kansas squad isn’t going to help matters. The Cyclones are coming off back-to-back losses, first falling on the road at Arizona and then suffering an unexpected defeat at home against Kansas State. Their recent slide is likely to continue, especially as they face a Kansas team that has a clear size advantage in this matchup.
Hunter Dickinson, standing at 7’2, is already a difficult challenge for any opponent, but head coach Bill Self has made another adjustment to bolster the Jayhawks’ interior presence. Freshman big man Flory Bidunga has been inserted into the starting lineup, adding another defensive force in the paint. Despite being listed at 6’9, Bidunga plays much bigger, using his athleticism to dominate around the rim. Kansas also gets strong contributions from KJ Adams, a versatile forward who can hold his own in the post and provide key minutes off the bench.
