Top Cappers News
There’s a popular narrative that the Kansas City Chiefs have been coasting through the regular season, keeping games closer than necessary and saving their best for the playoffs. However, this theory doesn’t hold much water. The Chiefs only managed to win four of their 15 games this season by more than eight points. If they could dominate every game by 20, they would. Meanwhile, the Texans delivered the biggest surprise of the Wild Card round, not only winning as underdogs but doing so by a dominant 20-point margin.
Under defensive-minded head coach DeMeco Ryans, Houston is as prepared as any team can be when facing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. The Texans' defense shined against Justin Herbert and the Chargers, holding them to just 12 points and forcing four interceptions. This shows they can handle elite quarterbacks. On the flip side, Kansas City is dealing with depth issues at wide receiver, with three of their top pass-catchers on injured reserve.
Houston’s ground game, led by Joe Mixon, is also superior to Kansas City’s rushing attack, and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has shown enough poise to handle the playoff pressure. Given the Chiefs’ tendency to win close games all season, laying eight points feels like too much. The Texans are well-positioned to cover the spread, if not pull off another upset. Take Houston ATS
